A diet that favours dental health is just as important as dental hygiene. The extent to which caries form on the one hand depends on how much sugar or how many sweet drinks with fruit acid we consume, and on the other hand on the frequency of meals per day. After each meal our saliva neutralises the pH of the teeth. But snacks between meals interrupt this process, so that the bacteria in the oral cavity are activated again.
Concentrating solely on dental hygiene measures and then ruining their impact with the wrong diet is of little help. You do not need to completely stop eating sweet food stuffs, but you always have the option of eating food that is more favourable to dental health. Or you can also brush your teeth more often to protect them from decay. We will be more than happy to give you some advice on your diet when discussing your individual prophylaxis.
