Porcelain jacket crowns (full-ceramic crowns) are made from pure ceramic and are not metal-bonded. These are often used for making repairs to the visible anterior teeth. By now they can also be used for molars. Just like inlays their advantages are high resemblance to natural teeth, high biocompatibility, stability and of course very long durability. Since they are transparent they are translucent like natural teeth, which means that they can hardly be distinguished from their natural neighbouring teeth. With dental examinations and prophylaxis on a regular basis they last many years.
